Creation: The European Foundation was founded
in 2005. Its creation arose as a result of the policies
promoted by the European Commissioner for Information
Society Erkki Liikanen. The Foundation is a nonprofit,
private rigth and declared a public utility organization.
It is legally under the protectorate of the Ministry of
Justice of the Kingdom of Belgium.
A European Service:
The European Foundation for Information Society does not
depend on any European Institution. The Foundation is an
international organization declared of public utility,
to promote and support the use of new technologies for
the government of the member countries of the European
Union and all countries that have existing cooperation
agreements with the European Union

Society information co-finances the use of new
technologies for the modernization of the various public
authorities, such as Central Agencies, Regionals,
- In collaboration with the public authorities, the
Foundation co-finances the creation of new public
management tools developed internationally to improve
the functioning of public services in the States of the
European Union and the countries that have existing
cooperation agreements with the Union European.
- Foundation also participates and collaborates with
large public and private entities on strategies and
programs on Information Society.
